A total of 22 elephants have been found dead after being poisoned with cyanide in western Zimbabwe, bringing to 62 the number of intoxicated elephants in the last month for their ivory, said Tuesday conservationists and government sources.
They are the latest victims of a growing plague of elephants poisoned by poachers interested in taking their tusks for ivory smuggling, the sources said.
Some of the animals that have died in Hwange National Park were so young that they still had no fangs, explained the spokesman of the National Parks Authority and Wildlife Zimbabwe, Caroline Washaya-Moyo, the state broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
"The guards of the National Parks Authority and Wildlife Zimbabwe have recovered 35 elephant tusks 22 poisoned, while poachers took three," said Washaya-Moyo.
Most of the 62 elephants poisoned with cyanide last month have been found in Hwange, the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe and former home of Cecil, one of the most popular lions African country, which was shot by an American dentist last July.
Five people were arrested last month in connection with another episode of poisoning.
Apparently, the poison came to Hwange through an intermediary who bought the chemical in a mine in southern Zimbabwe, according to the Bhejane Trust conservation group, which operates in booking Hwange and Victoria Falls nearby.

Animals could become extinct by 2015
Maybe I can feel powerless, but it is important to know what is happening with endangered species to raise awareness of it. A combination of events has led to hundreds of plant and animal species on the planet are disappearing: factors such as climate change, illegal trafficking of species, the destruction of ecosystems, etc., they have made at least 30 to 50% species may be close to extinction by the end of this century.
Sea cow
By its appearance, this is one of the rarest and most curious species of the planet like a dolphin but with some nice stained eyes, like a panda. It is estimated that today only live about 100 specimens of this animal.
Amur leopard
Until today are about 30 specimens of this species, considered one of the most beautiful on the planet for their spot patterns. In its natural state, Amour leopard lives within the boundaries of eastern Russia and northeastern China.
Leatherback
This is the world's largest turtle, leatherback turtle also known as: the largest specimen ever recorded weighed up to 916kg. Its population has declined significantly by factors such as intake of waste plastic bags on beaches and at sea, tourism developments on the beaches, which undermines the nesting, and fishing.
It is the largest feline, majestic species. He lives in Siberia, and ecosystem degradation in the lowlands of Asia and Russia, are believed to exist today 400 to 500 members of the species.
It is a peculiar species by its strange beauty. It is also known as the Asian unicorn; very little has been photographed, and its spots and horn are soulful. It is believed that there are only 100 of these specimens, as usually hunted for traditional Chinese and Vietnamese medicine. This species lives in the mountains of Vietnam and Laos.
The ambition is stronger.
Members of the international organization Animal Equality, with the help of local activists animal rights, produced a video report in which various phases of Chinese industry dedicated to the marketing of cat and dog fur for making shows clothing, handbags, toys and decorative items. Animal Equality images and statements obtained by infiltrators in the sector and the use of hidden
cameras.
Animal Equality investigators highlighted in particular a number of facilities and shops where the animals treated with extreme cruelty. On a farm dog of Jining, Shandong, photographed animals were kept in small cages, with fences of rusty metal and sharp protrusions. The dogs lived on a dirty floor and uneven concrete or wood, with little more than a handful of straw where you can lie down. Some of the animals had infections and wounds, indicating Animal Equality.
"In the Dali Market Nanhai District, Foshan, also in Guangdong, he recorded as unloading trucks, carelessly, dogs and cats, writhing in cages. No provide any attention to animal suffering or broken bones, only imports its meat and hide, "say the makers of Animal Equality. "Most of these animals are stolen and families in this market and similar are sold to slaughterhouses and restaurants."

We can end our world, if we don´t start acting
One of the biggest problems that the world does´t care about is:
"THE TRASH"
and although some do not want to admit this problem it is mainly caused by all human beings are affected greatly animals.
One study found that found barnacles, crustaceans that attach to hard substrates, large profunfundidades on beer bottles because any surface will adhere to in order to survive and thus generate dumps on the seabed.
also it became known that the university ship has been essential for the coverage, investigation and conservation purposes. said that in one sampling station in the gulf of mexico their trawls court found over half a kilometer deep.
Reflect
• The light trash thrown to the ground even far from the beach finish finding a way to reach the oceans.
• Cigarette butts takes seven years to biodegrade. Birds, turtles, whales and other marine animals accidentally ingest these cigarette butts that cause severe intestinal problems and even death.
• Most of the trash found on beaches and oceans are packages of food or drinks (straws, plastic caps, pieces of paper and plastic, cans, glass bottles, etc.). In other words it is what we throw away after having consumed or used the product.
• If we pull these products, our oceans would be 67% cleaner.
How the garbage affects marine species?
• Birds are entangled in trash that have been selected to nest.
• The garbage becomes entangled in the legs, picks, blowholes of birds, dolphins, turtles and prevents them to escape predators, go to the surface to breathe air or eating food.
• Sea turtles mistake plastic bags malaguas (his favorite food) and swallowed.
• The trash accumulated in the stomach of animals gives them the feeling of fullness and stop eating them. Starved and / or toxins in their bodies.
